Because we are a gang! Raiders Review! Forsaken Earth

On November 10th of this year I discovered the most interesting game in the Steam store – Raiders! Forsaken Earth. The game is very similar to Battle Brothers, but more ambiance, in my opinion. We play on the global map with a gang of raiders.

Supported Platforms: Windows.

We create it ourselves in this game. I suspect that the main goal is to survive. And if you’re lucky, grab your piece of power in these lands.

This is the most important thing in the game. We start by creating a hero and choosing gang properties

The window is small but remote. In the spirit of an old school RPG

From the very beginning we are put in the most serious mood. Quite a large selection of character classes. The classes are extremely different in functionality, so you need to choose very carefully.

Here, in general, every line of settings is important, so I see no point in focusing on specifics. Each item is accompanied by a fairly detailed description, enjoy. We have access to settings: our hero, symbols (functional) of the clan, global game parameters.

The icing on the cake for the oldfags. The heroes here are clones that are not similar to each other, which has become the norm in the industry, in fact. Each time stats are generated, dice are rolled. And you can throw them as many times as you want too. For example, half an hour is easy. Moreover, there is no “casuality” of Baldur’s Gate – you cannot save the “best” option, you just either accept it or throw it further. And then your “ideal” hero will die in the first battle. For example, this happened to me twice.

We, our base, just above the arena – for showdowns

The combat part, in general, is a fairly well-developed turn-based battle. What I liked is that the battle time is not drawn out, like in many other turn-based combat games. While the warriors approach each other, half an hour will pass in other projects. Here the battle begins right away. Of course, here “it depends on the taste and color – there are no comrades”, in different games this is arranged very, very differently, but this system worked for me, the conditions are equal – combat.

The functionality of the game is huge, so in broad strokes (otherwise it will be the second “War and Peace”) I will go over the things that we can do in the game, omitting the emotional and subjective part, which will be presented below.

The game allows us to:

– Rob caravans, oh yes! Moreover, it is possible without killing, if the authority is high, they themselves will give everything you order.

— We can drive https://sportsbettingmedia.co.uk/ civilians “to machine guns” when storming settlements.

– Cut up prisoners for meat. Or maybe your gang mate.

– Use napalm, chemical, nuclear weapons.

— Hit populated areas with artillery.

— Establish your own law of the wastelands, if you have enough authority.

— Craft vehicles that are crazier than Mad Max.

— Build dozens of cool functional buildings in settlements.

— Wander through the wasteland, collect junk (resources). There are an unreal number of types of useful swag.

– Provide your bandits with suitable equipment. Character models in battle change depending on what is worn.

— Often participate in sudden incidents that add flavor:

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.

+ A huge game in terms of functionality and world development. Here are types of characters, resources, buildings, crafting, slaves for meat and much more. The atmosphere is off the charts.

+ Nice graphic style.

+ The soundtrack and sound design fit well with the theme of the game.

+ Good, not drawn out, implementation of turn-based combat.

+ You can make very good progress in learning English.

+ Updates are coming constantly. Many small but useful fixes, judging by the patch notes. Inspires optimism.

WHAT CAN BE A PLUS AND MINUS:

+- Quite a lot of text. And these texts are often important. There is no Russian localization yet. Most likely it won’t. The difficulty of understanding English in the game would be described as “above average”. If you want to delve into everything, you will most likely have to take up a dictionary. But depending on who you choose, this may be a plus for some.

— An extremely unpleasant minus, which, I think, will be fixed, but which exists today. Interaction with objects sometimes fails. For example, we are driving a caravan of refugees, we have already overtaken them, but the interaction window does not appear and they make their move. Unpleasant? Otherwise! Thought I was a crook, but it’s the same with the settlement. If you poke at it a lot, at some point the window for interacting with the settlement (consider it with another object too) simply does not appear. If you poke again, it will be displayed. But it needs to be displayed every time.

— It’s now unknown when I’ll get to Battle Brothers.

CONCLUSIONS. OBJECTIVE PART

Great game. Lots of content. Very replayable. If you don’t mind the lack of localization and like these types of games, I highly recommend checking them out.

CONCLUSIONS. SUBJECTIVE PART

It turned out that I was really looking forward to just such a game. In fact, I was mentally preparing for another big game – Battle Brothers. Getting acquainted with the genre, it even so happened that I became friends with two people who were really “sick” of Battle Brothers. And it was precisely this moment, more or less, albeit in absentia, acquaintance with a similar system that made it possible to quite painlessly join the Raiders and become immersed in it. Battle Brothers is a great game, I don’t even want to question it and, of course, I won’t forget about it either. But the Raiders, in my opinion, have their own tricks. It gives more vivid sensations, more quickly, sharply. The atmosphere of constant danger reigning in the wasteland is overwhelming. My subjective assessment is just a must-have.

PS: I probably didn’t cover all aspects of the game, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments.
